Moscow Metro Line is Closing (Completely!) for 2 Years

Kahovskaya metro line has been closed this weekend, the closure affects THE Kashirskaya, Varshavskaya, Kahovskaya stations.

The line is closed to facilitate technical works aimed to connect the line stations with the future 2nd Circle Line. Special buses marked with 2 letter KM will be operating following the route of the line. Operating hours of the buses – 5.30 am – 2 am.

3 During World War II  the construction of the subway did not cease: seven new stations were built.


4 Metro-2  is the  name for a secret underground metro system which parallels the public Moscow Metro.  It is supposedly  operated by Ministry of Defence.

The length of Metro-2 is rumored to exceed that of the public Metro. It is said to have four lines and to connect the Kremlin with the Federal Security Service headquarters, in addition to other locations of national importance.
